ULTRASOUND-ASSISTED SYNTHESIS OF NOVEL 3-(PYRIDINYLAMINO)-1-FERROCENYLPROPAN-1-ONES

In this work we will report the formulation of novel 3-(pyridinylamino)-1-ferrocenylpropan-1-ones. A fruitful aza-Michael addition of pyridinamine moiety to a conjugated enone, 1-ferrocenylpropenone, has been accomplished by an ultrasonic irradiation of the mixture of these reactants. As the catalyst montmorillonite K-10 has been used and the reaction has been carried out as solvent-free, yielding ferrocene containing Mannich bases, compounds considered as important precursors in organic synthesis. The reaction score has been evaluated on three examples. The prepared products have been purified by column chromatography. In addition, a detailed characterization of the obtained 3-(pyridin-2-ylamino)-1-ferrocenylpropan-1-on and 3-(pyridin-3-ylamino)-1-ferrocenylpropan-1-on has been completed by IR and NMR spectroscopy, as well as elemental analyses.

THE PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME NOVEL FEROCENIL DERIVATIVES

This paper provides a report on an easily performable synthesis via one-pot reaction, between the newly synthesized 3-arylamino-1-ferrocenylpropan-1-ols and PhNCO. We have used the acetic acid as the catalyst and ultrasound irradiation as the reaction promoter. We have evaluated the reaction score on three examples. In order to gain a more comprehensive insight into the role of α-ferrocenyl carbocation, we have described a plausible mechanism of the transformations in question. Moreover, we have purified the prepared by using column chromatography. Besides, we provide a detailed characterization of the new compounds (products and starting material), which was performed by IR, NMR and elemental analyses.

SIMULATION OF CHEMICAL ACCIDENTS WITH ACETYLENE IN „MESSER TEHNOGAS“ KRALJEVO PLANT BY „ALOHA“ SOFTWARE PROGRAM

Chemical plants are generally associated with potentially high risk of chemical accidents. During chemical accidents hazardous substances jeopardize human lives, destroy material assests and degrade natural environment. The release of flammable and explosive gases or liquids especially poses a significant threat to the environment. This paper introduces the simulation of a chemical accident caused by an uncontrolled acetylene cylinder release in the warehouse of Messer Tehnogas Kraljevo chemical plant. The simulation was performed by ALOHA program package which defines a possible accident development and determines threat and safety zones. The assessment of potential scenarios is based on physico-chemical properties of the substance causing the accident. This paper discusses accident situations occurring under the most unfavorable atmospheric conditions.

NOVEL 4-FERROCENYL-8-(PHENYLTHIO)-1,2,3,4-TETRAHYDROQUINOLINE: DESIGN, SYNTHESIS AND SPECTRAL CHARACTERIZATION

Herein, we report design, synthesis and spectral characterization of novel 4-ferrocenyl-8-(phenylthio)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline. Desired synthesis was achieved in three reaction steps, with a good overall yield (67%). First step included aza-Michael addition of 2-(phenylthio)aniline to 1-ferrocenylpropenone, subsequently, the obtained ketone was smoothly reduced to the corresponding 1,3-amino alcohol. The final step was an intramolecular cyclization prompted by acetic acid, proceeding via corresponding α-ferrocenyl carbocation. The synthesized compounds have been isolated pure, and their structure have been undoubtedly confirmed by standard spectral techniques (1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR and elemental analyses).
